Game Biz : Game Update
Posted by Phil Steinmeyer on 2005/7/23 10:12:43

I’ve been working away on my game – it’s a casual word puzzle game, a bit like PopCap’s Bookworm (but hopefully more up-to-date, with deeper and more varied gameplay).  Casual games offer really quick development times.  My last full retail PC game, Railroad Tycoon 3, took about 2.5 years to develop with a 13 person team, and that was considered quite small.  This new game will be done in about 4 months with a 2 person team (myself and a very talented artist).  Very refreshing.

I took an early build with me to visit my in-laws in Chicago last weekend, and my 12-year-old nephew played for 3-4 hours until rather late on Saturday night, so hopefully the game has some hook to it.

Fun Links

Guess the Google Image – This site shows you 16 images summoned from Google Images by a single keyword (i.e. bicycle).  Your challenge is to guess what that keyword is.  Entertaining…

This one’s been floating around for a while, but if you haven’t tried it yet, this on-line game of 20 questions is suprisingly good.
